This week on my series of Splurge or Save I’ll be comparing Stila Magnificent Metals Glitter & Glow Liquid Eye Shadow and I actually have three lower end versions depending on your personal preference! The three options are a pressed glitter from Prima makeup, Maybelline Color Tattoo and L’Oréal Eye Paint. The shades are as followed: Stila is in Gold Goddess, Prima pressed glitter is in Liquid Gold, Maybelline is in 24K Gold and L’oreal is in 201 Vicious Gold. These comparisons are not the exact same colour this is just different options if say you are on a budget or you are not wanting to spend a lot of money on a glitter style liquid shadow which I can totaly understand because it’s not exactly a look for the everday woman but if you want to rock a glitter lid on a Wednesday you do you boo!
So to the facts, Stila Liquid Eyeshadow is retailing for £23 (official Stila website), the product contains 0.153 fl. oz./ 4.5ml. This product comes in a square glass container with a doe foot applicator. Prima pressed glitter comes in a pan which can be stored in a magnetic palette each pan retails for £3.50, I could not actually find the weight of this product on their website but they do come in a 28mm pan. Maybellines color tattoo retails for £4.99 (local drugstore), the product comes in a glass jar, again I can’t find how much this product holds but I’m sure if you went to the drugstore it would be on the display. Lastly the L’Oréal eye paint retails at £5.99 (local drugstore), and again I was unable to find the weight of this product as well, the eye paint comes in a smaller square plastic container and also has a doe foot applicator similar to the Stila Liquid Eyeshadow!
So I have already done a review on the Stila Liquid Shadow so I won’t go into that much detail about it, but if you want to read more go check that blog post out for more information!
If you want an exact dupe for this Stila Metallic Liquid shadow I would recommend the Prima Pressed Glitter. This pressed glitter gives the same effect and is essentially the same product just in a pressed pan, the only difference is a slightly difference in consistency! The colour match for this particular shade is really spot on, but I do know that there is wide range of colour choices!
If you are looking for something less glittery and a little more subtle for possibly everyday wear but still want a little shimmer and a nice shine to the lid, also if you are looking for the same sort of doe foot applicator as the Stila Liquid Eyeshadow then I think the L’Oréal eye paint is a great option! The eye paint still does have a shimmer and shine to it but not a straight glitter like the Stila and the Prima pressed glitter. L’Oréal does a range of colours in the eye paints and I do highly recommend them because they stay on a long time and do not crease at all!
The last possibility is the Maybelline colour tattoo, I decided to add this in as an option for a possible dupe just because it is a different formulation and application to the Stila and L’Oréal. I personally think this is another subtle shimmer but very pigmented at the same time. The colour is not the same at the Stila Liquid shadow which is a more green undertone gold were as the Maybelline colour tattoo is a yellow undertone gold. This cream shadow has an excellent staying powder and also does not crease or smudge.
I do love the Stila Liquid Eyeshadows and think they are very special, but the point of this blog post is to decide if they are worth the money and if there is a cheaper option available. The answer to that is yes! I think that at least one of these options will be a great dupe for the Stila Liquid Eyeshadows, depending on what you want from the dupe, either a different consistency, application or colour and all theee of these options are very affordable!
I hope you enjoyed the second post in my Splurge or Save series, comment below or on my Instagram of any other products you would like me to find dupes off and I’ll be willing to find them and add it too this series!
